The blatant disregard of history is getting pretty hilarious. Universities are “certainly not racist?” Really? Even ones that were actually built by slave labor? That were funded with wealth gained from slavery? That wouldn’t admit people of color for decades? And when they do admit people of color it is and has been for the express purpose to assimilate us and kill our own cultural knowledge? These institutions are certainly not racist? The same ones that created fields of study to rank human races into hierarchies? That use standardized admissions tests that are biased toward white, upper class people? That resist hiring and promoting nonwhite faculty? Or allowing studies outside of white european “canon?” That experiment on Brown bodies without consent, thru deception/coersion/and force? That actually, to this day, keep the bones of indigenous people and refuse to give them back to their communities for proper burial? That were built on stolen indigenous land? Really? All these institutions built by colonizing countries that invented the entire concept of what it means to be white and that white people are naturally superior…these institutions are definitely, surely, silly-of-me-to-think-otherwise, NOT racist? Lol.
I don’t know what this is in response to but, really, does it matter? Effing A.
